Professor Konrad Ehlich has published extensively in many
fields, including linguistic pragmatics, discourse
analysis, and sociology of language. He has won
international reputation with the theory of 'Functional
Pragmatics', a theory of linguistic action which he has
developed, together with Jochen Rehbein and other
linguists, over the last 20 years.
The lecture will give an introduction to the theoretical
foundations, methodological principles and practical
applications of Functional Pragmatics.
Professor Ehlich is the director of the Institut fuer
Deutsch als Fremdsprache, University of Munich.
