This might refer to the European folk tale, a Scottish version of which is
found in the ballad "The Mill Dams of Binnorie". A knight appears and courts
the older of two sisters, but loves the younger. The older sister drowns the
younger in the mill-dam, and marries the knight, but the wedding is disrupted
by the ghost of the younger sister speaking through a harper. Is this
anything like?
