As a physio who had metal plates and screws inserted in bilat tibae, I can
tell you that I felt much better in myself after they were removed.
However, mine were for corrective surgery when I was 10yrs old and not
removed until I was about 30.Removal had not been recommended back then.
Blood tests said that I did not have metal poisoning, yet my bones were
disintegrating (evidenced by multiple spontanoeus fine cracks on xray and
bone scan plus the fact that one tibia did shatter at the first attempt to
remove them).
As I was assured that this was due to the type of metal used in the 1960's,
I was coerced into having my ears pierced during my convalescence. The
inflammatory reaction locally and the general, illness that followed,
shocked me.
Some people (like me)should obviously avoid metal in their bodies if
possible or at least limit it's prescence to the minimum.
Have you noticed the red, irritated almost wound breakdown reaction of some
patients to the metal clips after hip surgery particularly. They can look
infected, but heal rapidly as soon as the clips are removed.
Individuals react to metals with different chemical tissue responses.
