I could make a very good case for worrying about the spinal cord injury at
the expense of the airway while removal is attempted. The airway has been
occluded by the patient's weight; it is thus out of the equation as you
can do nothing about that. The neck is at severe risk while the patient
remains hanging and must be protected once suspension ceases. Once down,
the airway can be dealt with.
