In his Boer War verse, M.I. (Mounted Infantry) Kipling speaks of the London
Ikonas. Can anyone tell me what this means? My guess is a corruption of
infantry reconnaisance but I stand to be corrected.
And in the same stanza "Ted Sloan" I take to be rhyming slang for "on my
own" - but who was Ted Sloan?
