Dear Anuradha
The Lysholm Score is a professional-assessed scale for measuring symptoms
during daily activities following knee ligament injury. There are 8 domains
(limp, support, locking, instability, pain, swelling, stairs, squatting)
with weighted scores given to each response. A maximum score of 100 is
given where no problems are experienced during daily activities and 0 is
scored in the most severe symptomology.
PATIENT POPULATION: Tegner (1985) intended use with any patient with knee
ligament injury, tested in a population with anterior cruciate ligament
injury.
ORIGINAL REFERENCE: Tegner Y, Lysholm J (1985) Rating system in the
evaluation of knee ligament injuries Clinical Orthopaedics and Related
Research 198, 43-49.
OTHER REFERENCES: Lysholm J, Gillquist J (1982) Evaluation of knee ligament

If anyone has other references that have examined the psychometric
properties of the Lysholm knee scoring I would be delighted to hear about
them.

Subject: Lysholm score
.The following is an extract from abstract of --MOTOR PERFORMANCE IN DYNAMIC
TESTS IN KNEE REHABILITATION.... Scan J Med Sci Sports 1999 feb
During the strength measurements a superimposed twitch technique was used
for the detection of neuromuscular inhibition. The results demonstrate a
significantly reduced Lysholm-Score and a distinct strength deficit, but no
neuromuscular inhibition and no differences in knee stability in the
operated leg.
Could some one tell me about the Lysholm score??
Many thanks
Anuradha
