The Guardian didn't get it too wrong. Last Sunday the Independent said the
universities involved were Oxford, Cambridge and UCL. Sounds like there's
plenty to play for.

Subject: RE: David Blunkett's announcement
Hi Peter and everyone : Peter asked about the Global Education strategy
involving Sheffield University and others....(details below).
Briefly, as I understand it, the consortium is *only* at the talking stage
at the moment, and have yet to firm up their ideas and relationships. This
is the URL for the press release:
http://www.shef.ac.uk/~pro/press_releases/pr00/4-00.html
It seems that the Guardian tried to make a connection between David
Blunkett's piece on the e-universities, and what is happening concerning
Sheffield and the other UK universities. I am not at the moment involved in
this initiative, but from talking with those who are, I understand that
there is no link at all. The Global Partnership is, at the moment, *not*
concerned with the use of ICT etc in delivering courses - but is just
trying to establish a firm working relationship between the universities
involved, which *may* (or may not) in the future include teaching and
learning via ICT etc.
Not sure if this helps?!!
