On whether county record offices and major libraries will
buy the 1901 CEBs, I very much doubt it. CROs are short of
cash and they will try to save money if they can.
More likely they will simply sit down anyone who asks to
see the 1901 CEBs, at a computer linked to the Internet
with instuctions on how to log on to the PRO site.
Indeed the probability is that anyone who is researching a
local community will have NO OPTION but to visit the PRO at
Kew (I've also heard a rumour that the FHC will not be
holding a copy of it). A costly journey for anyone north of
Watford and there are something like 30,000,000 of us!
(Indeed some may say a costly journey for anyone living in
London!).
As I said in my last email. The PRO should continue to sell
the microfiche direct to anyone who wants it at reasonably
cost.
