Are you interested in creating digital library services for visually
impaired people?
New technology can help to deliver equal access to library and
information services for visually impaired people. Would you like to
lead the work of the National Library for the Blind (UK) in this area?
The aim of the National Library for the Blind is to enable all visually
impaired people to have the same access to library services as sighted
people. Working with partners such as the Royal National Institute for
the Blind and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, NLB
provides the UK gateway to library services for visually impaired
people. As well as lending a wide range of reading material for all age-
groups from its extensive collection of hard copy Braille and Moon books
and Braille music, the library also provides access to electronic books
and reference material via its award-winning website at www.nlbuk.org

by a small web support team. He or she will also lead a team

visual impairment, libraries and ICT.
We are looking for someone who has:
· Excellent understanding of the issues around development of digital
library services
· Track record of implementing customer-focused web solutions
