Dear Kate,
I would add the following questions to those suggested by Niall
Hammond:-
Have you digitised statutory constraint data eg boundaries of SAMs,
Parks & Gardens, battlefields etc?
What scale have you used (eg original source material scale or larger)?
Do you supply GIS information in digital or paper format to users
outside your organisation (eg consultants/developers/public)?
Do you charge for this information?
Do you include any disclaimers with this information?
For your information, the GIS User Group in my department (of which I am
a member) is reviewing its GIS strategy in the next few months. This
will involve consideration of such issues as data copyright and sale and
exchange of GIS data. We are consulting our legal section on several
issues to ensure that what we are doing, or want to do, complies with
our OS licence etc.
I would be happy to share relevant sections of this document with the
group when it is finished.
