In response to Chris Wardle:
1. Yes. Elements of the Historic Landscape Characterisation for B&NES are
being entered into the SMR. e.g. medieval parks, surviving elements of early
medieval enclosure, infield systems, ancient woodland. Historic buildings
has got as far as creating a suitable Access database for migration into
Exegesis at some point over the next few months.
2,3,4. SMR is referred to in too many statutory instruments and associated
documents to dismiss outright. However, I do believe the name has had its
day. In B&NES we are moving towards a LEIMS model, part of which will be
the HEIR in brackets SMR.
5. I will be actively pursuing a HLF bid this year but not specifically
for the SMR. I want to see if I can work up a bid for the LEIMS as a whole.
