For centuries pilgrims have travelled between Ireland and mainland
Europe. To commemorate the new millennium, UCC is hosting an
international conference which focuses on themes connected with
pilgrimage not only in Ireland but also European and sites elsewhere.
Speakers of international repute have been invited. There will be
sessions on the following topics: Pilgrim Routes and Sites, Art and
Architecture, Literature, Geography, Spirituality, Artefacts and
Archaeology, Music, Relics and Saints.

The conference will commence on the evening of Wednesday, July
26, and will finish in the afternoon of Saturday, July 30 2000. There
will be an optional excursion to pilgrimage sites in the vicinity of
Cork on Sunday, July 31. We will organise a walking tour following
some ancient pilgrims' paths in some of the most beautiful parts of
Ireland (it may be possible to visit these routes in the form of a bus
tour with expert guides depending on demand).

conference (exhibition space can be provided) should contact the
