You, seem to refer to the hierarchical nature of impairment
Don't know if this is a unique experience where I live but both at the
individual level. (as someone with multiple impairments) and also in the
research that I'm involve with, it appears that the impairments that are
best served and understood are those wherein economic policy " serve them
better". For example people with congenital impairment and often women
who did not work prior their impairment in Quebec are mostly covered by
welfare program (less money & prestige) as oppose to those who may have
worked contributed to pension and receive different type of subsides.(more
and in some cases better equipment's)
Moreover, our government does not "officially" recognize LD, thus students
with LD are not entitled to bursaries or services. Our needs are met less
and it is rare that you see anyone contribute to or Identify themselves as
such. Could this be part of what is happening with impairments such as ADD?
