I know that there are segments of the Disability community who think
that simulations may have negative effects if not handled properly. I
am not aware of any research on this and would also be grateful to be
made aware of any.
I believe (if I recall correctly) that there is some support for
simulation activities IF there is time for serious discussion about the
experience and the point is made that (for example) wheelchairs are
instruments of transportation for people who use them; they are not
"confined" to wheelchairs, but use them to get around.
