Her name is Jane Eliot. and the exercise did not remotely resemble the
simulation exercises I have come across in the "disability field". What she
did was to create a situation where half of the group was put in a position
of disempowerment. From which she made them draw conclusions about treatment
of other groups. It has very little to do with using a technical aid in
public. It is more like a fullscale laboratory simualtion. I suspect it
would be highly useful in the disability field also. She and her staff
conduct training seminars and educate others to work with her model. She is
not cheap but I guess she is worth it.
If any one is interested there was a very good documentary sent on Swedish
TV a couple of years back (poosible to obtain on video at the time).
