The Institute is a multi-disciplinary research group set up
to investigate the role of electronic images in human
communication. For further information please refer to

We are seeking to appoint a research associate on an AHRB
funded project: Compare and Contrast: a study of the impact
of digital image technology on art history. The post is
for eighteen months (fixed term) in first instance.
Your main task is to investigate, by means of in-depth
interviews with a broad sample of art historians, how
digital images are being used now by members of the art
history community and how access to such images may be
changing their working methods. The term 'Art History'
is intended to encompass histories of all forms of visual
culture including design, architecture, photography and
film. You will also maintain the project web page and
contribute to the dissemination and publication
programme.
You should have knowledge of working methods in art
historical research. Knowledge of IT applications in art
history is desirable. You should be well qualified in art
history or a related discipline, preferably to master's level
or beyond, or have the equivalent research experience.
You must have good interpersonal skills; good writing
skills and be IT literate.
