Just an observation in terms of everyday banalities of exclusion, can I just
say that the use of "sods" in this context seems ironic in the extreme . . .
? I do realize this term is not used these days with its original etymology
at all in mind (I have often heard confirmedly liberal friends of mine who
are most definitely not at all homophobic use variations on "sod" and
"bugger"), but isn't that then a perfect example of the banal?
