IGC2000: FIRST INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON INTERACTIVE GRAPHICAL
COMMUNICATION.
August 30-31, 2000
Queen Mary and Westfield College
University of London

Sponsors:
ATR Media Integration and Communication Laboratories,
Kyoto 619-0288
Japan.
IGC2000 is the first multi-disciplinary workshop devoted to the
interactive use of graphical representations in human communication.
Although considerable efforts have been directed at cognitive and
computational analyses of graphical representations little research has
attended to their use in interaction. Technological developments have
significantly widened the scope of this form of interaction and make the
focus of this workshop highly timely. Topics of interest include;
* evolution of graphical representations during interaction,
* the characteristics of virtual and actual graphical media,
* stability and spread of graphical conventions,
* technologies for enhancing graphical communication,
* notions of meaning in graphical communication,
* interactions between graphics and other modalities,
* detailed empirical studies of graphical interaction,
* changes in iconicity and abstraction during interaction,
* gestural models of graphical interaction.
We invite submissions that focus on any aspects of interactive graphical
communication. Contributions from any theoretical orienation or approach
are welcomed.
