Athens Workshop - either 2nd or 3rd March (see web-site for
announcement)
The PTI workshop series (http://www.i3net.org/pti) aims to provide an
on-going forum for researchers and designers who believe that there
should be a greater emphasis on the physical and tangible in interaction
with computers. The theme for the second workshop is the "Disappearing
Computer" where computers are predicted to disappear, replaced by
collections of "information artefacts". The aim is to bring together a
collection of visions that address ways in which we can increase the
quality of interaction through a focus on PTI. Can PTI offer a
convincing alternative to the usability nightmare of ubiquitous and
multiple devices with tiny button and LCD screens?
Submissions are invited in the form of a brief position statement or
vision document (typically one page). Documents should be sent
electronically in HTML or MS Word format to [log in to unmask] The Workshop
format will be short oral presentations and thematic and roundtable
discussion groups. There is also the opportunity for you to accompany
your vision statement with a short stand-alone video presentation for
those that cannot be present. A revised final version of the vision
document will be compiled and published on-line as an i3Net publication.
