I think it's a good idea.
What could we discuss?
What the Faculty's view is.
What the training opportunities are.
What the role is.
What skills are required.
Whetehr it's all one job, or lots of different types.
Whether there are lessons for how the public health medicine
function is distributed throughout the nhs.
Whether it's a worthwhile career opportunity.
How other consultants in trusts view us.
What links, if any, there should be to academic departments
through trusts.
Whether we need structured training for people who want to do it.
Whether there are parallels in other countrys.
Whether local HA-based PHPs think we're worth it.

Dear all
John Wright in Bradford is considering submitting an abstract to this
year's Faculty conference about two evaluations of public health
practice in Trusts. When thinking about this, we wondered if people
might be interested in a satellite session at the conference
specifically to discuss experience and the future of public health in
Trusts? We know there's to be a workshop on this topic in Birmingham
in March - could this be a useful follow-on to that?
What do you think? If yes, what would you like to talk about,
would you come and would you want to present anything? A reply to the
mailbase may be helpful in the first instance to generate discussion.
Then, if enough people appear to be interested, either John or I will
propose to the conference organisers. Look forward to you views.
