JISC has just advertised four senior programme management posts, two of
which are directly involved in JISC's digital library efforts, while the
other two have important supporting roles. Apologies for cross-posting,
but I believe these posts are important enough to warrant it.
The Programme Director of the Distributed National Electronic Resource
(DNER) will be based in London, and will head a team of 7-12 coordinators
working with other bodies throughout the UK to develop JISC's approach to
a national-scale digital library. This has to be the most exciting job
going in digital libraries today, with enormous potential to influence the
changes in scholarship and learning in the UK as the digital revolution
begins to bite.
The JISC Digital Preservation Focus will be part of the DNER team, and
will be responsible for developing JISC's strategy in this critical area,
and for working with other bodies to establish a digital preservation
coalition.
The two other posts are the JISC Middleware Programme Director,
responsible mainly in the first instance for developing policy and
services on authentication and security (key areas for the digital
library), and the JISC Technology Development Coordinator, maintaining an
active technology watch role for all JISC sub-committees.
All the descriptions used above are my interpretations. See
http://www.jobs.ac.uk/jobfiles/DA919.html for further (official) details.
