I did not intend making this announcement on this list until a bit later,
but there are reasons why now is the right time. Some of you will already
know that I have accepted the position of Director of Information Services
at the University of Glasgow, starting from April 2000. Accordingly, I
have resigned from this position of eLib Programme Director from just
before this date.
As I said in an earlier email, JISC has just advertised four senior
programme management posts, two of which are directly involved in JISC's
digital library efforts. The post of Programme Director of the
Distributed National Electronic Resource (DNER) will be based in London,
and will head a team of 7-12 coordinators working with other bodies
throughout the UK to develop JISC's approach to a national-scale digital
library. In my view, this has to be the most exciting job going in digital
libraries today, with enormous potential to influence the changes in
scholarship and learning in the UK as the digital revolution begins to
bite. We need the best possible candidates to put themselves forward for
this post, closing 26 January 2000.
See http://www.jobs.ac.uk/jobfiles/DA919.html for further (official)
details.
