Dear All
I am writing to thank you for all the good wishes which have been sent
wishing me a happy retirement and especially to thank those of you who
contributed so generously to my leaving gifts (a crystal vase and a
cheque for £275), presented by Professor Richard Chapman at the AGM last
Thursday.
It was a very emotional, yet heart-warming occasion for me after ten
years in the JUC saddle and I will remember you all fondly. My
grand-daughter, who often helps me to 'stuff' JUC mailings, is always
amazed that I can remember the 300+- names which are on the database but
that it is because over the years I have been able to put faces to most
of you or hear your voices at the end of a phone-line.
I sincerely hope that all the constituent committees and sub-committees
of the JUC go from strength to strength and that the organisation will
celebrate its century in 2008 with vigour. I also hope that more
younger people, women and those from ethnic minorities will become
representatives and join what Richard Chapman so rightly called the 'JUC
family'.
Best wishes.
Jeanne
