There are growing expectations that social care research
should reflect good standards of ethical regulation, but little
attention has been paid to the special character of ethical
questions in this field. Whilst there is broad consensus
around general ethical principles, translating them into
feasible and useable guidelines is problematic.
This seminar aims to build an active dialogue between key
stakeholders in social care and inform contemporary debate on
how to identify and best manage ethical issues in social care
research.
The seminar draws together people holding a variety of
perspectives from a range of social research fields and
methodological traditions. The panel and rapporteur sessions will
draw the themes and experiences together and look at ways
forward.
The event is FREE thanks to the co-sponsorship of the Welsh
Office of Research and Development
