Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
University Lectureship or Assistant Lectureship in
the Sociology of Health and Illness
Applications are invited for a University Lectureship or Assistant
Lectureship in the Sociology of Health and Illness. Applicants should have
a higher degree in the broad field of the social sciences of health,
preferably with teaching and research experience in medical sociology or
sociology of health and illness. The candidate should have a background in
empirical research on health. An interest in comparative research on
health issues would be an advantage.
SPS is an interdisciplinary Faculty and it is expected that the successful
applicant would make a broad, interdisciplinary contribution to teaching
and research. The post is intended to support and compliment existing
research on health and ageing, health and family, and the sociology of
health and illness in a comparative framework.
The pensionable scales of stipends are, for University Lecturers, £20,107 a
year, rising by eleven annual increments to £30,010, for University
Assistant Lectureships, £16,665a year, rising by six annual increments to
£21,815.
