Hello Everyone,
I am currently working on a project at a pulp and paper mill. The job requires a worker to use a jackhammer (weighs about 80lbs) with a shaft attached (approx. 6ft long), to break up lime balls which can accumulate to 5 ft in diameter. The lime ball is in cylinder, situated on it’s side (i.e. The top and bottom are perpendicular to the ground). There is a slit in the side of the cylinder which the shaft goes through to break up this lime.
The problem now is that the jackhammer is held in a horizontal manner for as long as 30-50min while the worker navigates the jackhammer in/out and up and down to properly break up this lime ball. There is tremendous amount of weight which must be held statically. I’ve been looking at tool balancers but does anyone know of other researches that were done, suggestions or even what other types of ideas to alleviate such a problem. Thanks for your time. (Sorry for the essay!)
