Peter Singer has been given 3+1/3 pages in this weeks New Scientist, a UK
popular weekly science magazine.
The interview is much as might be imagined eg
Q'How do you cope when protesters call you a Nazi who supports killing the
sick and disabled?"
A" Let's not get too carried away. There's only been one protest since my
arival in the US-I think there may have been one or two before. And these
protests have their good side as well. Certainly everyone knows that I've
arrived in the country and that gives me the opportunity to talk about
things that I want to talk about".
And it goes on to confirm that he views the use of brain damaged humans in
research would be justifiable if it was equally justifiable to do the same
research on a brain damaged chimp. ( He seems to be saying that niether
organism has the right to protection from experimentation on grounds of
outside assessment of value as defined in terms of brain damage).
Anyway if anyone wants to read the entire article the reference is
Opinion Interview: Only Human.
