CALL FOR PAPERS
THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF
SCOTTISH THEATRE (IJOST)
Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh
QMUC Drama Department is pleased to announce its Call for Papers for
the International Journal of Scottish Theatre (IJOST) which will be
launched on-line in mid-2000.
IJOST is an electronically published international peer-reviewed
journal which includes academic articles on all aspects of Scottish
theatre home and abroad. Each issue will contain five or six
articles, three or four of which will be grouped round a theme, and
one of which will be a forum article, a more speculative,
biographical or philosophical article on a selected topic, important
to Scottish theatre. Articles will be double-blind reviewed by
members of the editorial advisory board.
The journal seeks to fill an existing gap in the serious study of
Scottish theatre in order to meet developing needs of this growing
field. It has been under development since spring 1998 and is a
project supported by Queen Margaret University College Faculty of
Arts. The editor is Professor Ian Brown, and the assistant editors
are Dr Barbara Bell and Bill Findlay. Those who have confirmed their
agreement to be on the editorial advisory board include Professor
Michael Anderson, Professor Clive Barker, Dr Martin Bowman (Canada),
Professor David Bradby, Professor Cevat Capan (Turkey), Professor
Keith Dixon (France), Professor Horst Drescher (Germany), Professor
Peter Frisch (USA), David Hutchison, Professor R. D. S. Jack,
Professor Denis Kennedy (Ireland), Professor Baz Kershaw, Dr Anna
McMullan (Ireland), Professor Denis Salter (Canada), Professor Maggie
Rose (Italy), Professor Boris Senker (Croatia), Randall Stevenson,
Professor Iain Wright (Australia).
THE JOURNAL'S MISSION IS:
TO PUBLISH PAPERS ON ALL ASPECTS OF
THEATRE IN SCOTLAND AND ON THE
(RE)PRESENTATION OF SCOTLAND AND
SCOTTISH THEATRE ON THE
INTERNATIONAL STAGE.
We welcome articles on all aspects of theatre in Scotland, as well as
interdisciplinary studies which examine such issues as gender,
language, translation, history and postcolonialism in the larger
context of Scottish theatre.
The first issue will explore the theme of 'Scottish Stage Languages',
while the second issue will deal with 'Representations of Gender in
Contemporary Scottish Theatre'.
Please send your articles to Dr. Ksenija Horvat, Drama
