Does anyone know of a theoretical explanation for why the length of each
period in the periodic table is repeated just once, with the exception of
the H, He period?
I am not so much interested in why the first period is anomalous, although
this too is interesting, as in the question of why there is repetition in
all other cases.
I refer to the lengths being 8, 8, 18, 18, 32, 32 etc
