Special Issue of the International Journal of Human Computer Interaction on
Ubiquitous Computing
Computing pervades most aspects of modern life in so many ways, mobile
communications, personal digital assistants, programmable domestic
household appliances, electronic banking, climate control systems,
navigation systems in cars, auto-teller machines, etc. What seperates this
type of technology from regular computing is that the devices may not
necessarily look, feel or act like computers and the users of the
technology may be largely unaware of the computing. These users probably
expect to use the devices without any prior training and without making
mistakes. For the purposes of the special issue we are interested in
receiving research papers from people engaging in looking at the nature of
the interaction between humans and some embodiment of ubiquitous computing.
This may be a case study, an empirical research study or a theoretical
treatise. Authors are requested to consult a copy of International Journal
of Human Computer Interaction for instructions on article length, format,
citation and reference style. The deadline for submissions is the 31 May
2000. Send 4 copies of your paper to:
