To my knowledge, there are two published systematic reviews looking at
non-invasive ventilation in acute respiratory failure and pulmonary
oedema respectively. There is also a review on use in COPD under
construction on the Cochrane database. Finally there is a recent
'personal' review article in the Journal of the Royal College of
Physicians on NIPPV and COPD. This provides a brief overview and reports
preliminary findings of a recent multicentre RCT looking at NIPPV in a
ward setting.
