Colleagues
Those of us hard workers in the DGH's are faced with the bi-annual turnover
of new SHO's. It basically means that all senior staff will be manning the
pumps to get the new SHO's induced. The month of February is therefore an
absolute no as us hard working DGH clinicians who will be hard at it getting
the SHO's bedded down into their new positions.
So what do the RCS and the RSM do during the first week of February, they
organise two major conferences of vital importance to A & E services. One
of these I understand is on head injuries and the implications for A & E.
The other conference is on the future of emergency services.
However I really do think it is a disgrace and contemptuous to hold the
meetings at such a crucial time. I also think that BAEM should really have
spoken up and recommended that they be deferred until a less crucial time.
I have just received my lovely new copy of the BAEM handbook and there is an
academic committee and surely they should be advising these august bodies on
the appropriateness of the dates of these meetings.
