"I was intrigued by the emphasis put on Frusemide. The West Yorks ambulance
service (WYMAS) carry buccal suscard, which I feel is far more appropriate."
Interesting point about nitrates versus frusemide. Anyone any thoughts about
an effective pre-hospital drug for heart failure?
Yes! Have them try the following:
Oxygen
Sit up
Blue light thingie and drive fast to A&E
Just kidding! But I had to say it...
Nitrates will work, as many have already said. Frusemide often has a place,
too, for fluid overload, not merely for a redistribution problem.
Anybody worried about nitrates dropping BP... should try Frusemide. It will
also drop the BP in those occasional cases, but you can't spit it out. And
get ready for an arrhythmia or 2 when the Potassium goes into the urine bag.
