I can understand your sentiment, Tim, but must add that I thought that
many Ambulance Trusts had moved down the road of appointing a Medical
Director with exactly this idea in mind - I'm thinking of East Anglia
and Surrey as two examples (one of whose Medical Directors lurks on this
list). Both audit of activity, and supervision of individual's
performance, are within the domain of this sort of post. I'd be
interested in knowing how widespread is the close involvement of Doctors
with Ambulance Trusts.
