I am afraid that I would want to associate myself with Laurence Bathurst's
comments, in their entirety.
I realise that negative responses to genuine postings are personally
upsetting, but the academic process usually takes a 'no prisoners'
approach - so worse may yet be to come!
If you are interested in a purely medically based approach, this list may
not be the most appropriate audience for you anyway. If you want to adopt a
non-medical approach, your question is unanswerable in one lifetime.
Even looking at broad subject areas, the answers might include:
* independent living
* full and enforceable civil rights
* adequate welfare benefits
* better access to health services/advice/support/treatments/aids and
equipment....
* to be seen as human beings rather than diagnoses
* a supportive and supported family
* a cure.
I hope that you realise that, like Laurence, I am trying to help, rather
than take cheap shots.
