Dear list-members
`intarch-interest' is flourishing with membership having just passed
the 365 mark, but this has also seen an upturn in the sending of
messages unrelated to the list's purpose.
May I take this opportunity to remind members that the `intarch-interest'
list, run in parallel with the journal `Internet Archaeology', has a
fairly tight focus of being concerned ONLY with e-publishing in
archaeology. We welcome discussion on:
* the journal and published articles
(and I'd like to initiate discussion with a few questions) e.g.
what do YOU think about `Internet Archaeology', now in its 4th year and
embarking on its 8th issue? If you've followed it from the beginning, how
do you perceive the changes we've made so far? Are there any improvements
or changes you would like to suggest? What do you think about our most
recent issues? Are you now beginning to use and cite IA articles in your
work?
* issues concerning publishing archaeology on the internet in
general e.g. what are the implications of disseminating archaeological
info using the WWW / multimedia? Do you consider electronic publication
when you think about getting your work `out there' now? And if not, why
not?
* announcing other relevant information. Got a new archaeology
website to tell us about, are you planning any workshops on the new
media, want to invite dicussants for your online archaeology conference?
However, the list cannot be the place for more general archaeological
queries - and there are hundreds more lists out there on both Mailbase and
other listservs that operate for this very purpose. So do keep your
postings to the list relevant (and if you feel like responding to the
odd rogue message that inevitably creeps in from time to time, as a
courtesy to other list members, please reply off list).
Many thanks for your co-operation and Happy New Year!
