Reader/Senior Lecturer in German
Applications are invited for the post of Reader or Senior Lecturer in
German to start 1 September 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter. In
addition to native or near-native competence in German and a record of
commitment to teaching, candidates should also have experience of
postgraduate supervision and a strong research record in the modern or
contemporary fields, which could include historical and political studies
as well as literature and cultural or media studies.
The Department was rated excellent (22) in the last Teaching Quality
Assessment, gained the highest grade (5*) in the 1996 HEFC Research
Assessment Exercise and has an active postgraduate and research culture.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate who in addition to contributing
to the undergraduate programme will be able to take a lead in developing
postgraduate studies and research. The salary will be in the range
£31,563 - £35,670 per annum
