DUKE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES
THE LISA LEE AND MARC EWING POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN GERMAN STUDIES AND
WOMEN'S STUDIES
This fellowship will support one year of interdisciplinary research and
teaching in Women's Studies and German Studies at Duke University. The
fellowship carries a stipend of $35,000 for a 9-month appointment, full
benefits, and a $2,000 allowance for moving and research expenses.
The successful candidate will present a record of research and teaching
that reflects a strong commitment to interdisciplinary work in gender,
feminism, and German studies. Eligible fields in German Studies include
(but are not limited to) history, literary and cultural studies, medieval
and early modern studies, political philosophy, musicology, and art
history. The Lee/Ewing fellow will teach one course in Women's Studies in
addition to pursuing individual research. American nationals or holders
of permanent residency permits who have received a PhD within the last
three years (1998-2000) or will have the degree in hand by August 31,
2001 are eligible to apply. Research agendas such as reworking the
dissertation for publication or pursuing a research project that differs
substantially from the dissertation will be given equal weight in the
selection process.

agendas, three letters of recommendation, and a course proposal with a
brief syllabus to the chair of the selection committee at the address
below. The postmark deadline is 20. January 2001.
