Advice please,
I have been asked to prepare a website together with a means to
publish it on a CD.
With plain simple non-browser-specific non-active pages I do not
see a problem as long as the potential reader has a browser. (Just
copy the site structure and pages to the CD and sort out any
autorun requirements.)
However things get more complicated when the website has active
pages (probably php driven mySQL) and SSI (probably apache) to
handle browser specific issues.
The site is fairly small so multiple copies could be put to the CD
and I guess some form of spider software could be written/used to
ensure that every possible page is produced and then a (massive)
regex-type search and replace done to change references to, for
instance, <a href="index.htm?contact"> to <a href="contact.htm">.
But... someone must have done this before! If so how, any
suggestions?
TIA
