As a new member to the rete group, I'd like to invite you to visit our
website, "The Cyber Museum of Neurosurgery" at
http://www.neurosurgery.org/cybermuseum/summary.html.
The development of some medical instrumentation is included, specifically
* Stereotactic Neurosurgery
* Surgical Microscopes (Microneurosurgery)
* Aneurysm clips
Descriptions of non-medical instruments can be found in the Special Exhibit,
"Journal of a Seaplane Cruise Around the World". These descriptions include
aviation/navigation/communication instrumentation used during the 1930s.
Of final interest to those interested in medical instruments would be our
oral history video series, "Leaders in Neuroscience". Inventors' and
collaborators' provide personal descriptions of instrument development such
as H. Thomas Ballantine (ultrasound), John Holter (shunts), John H. Lawrence
(nuclear medicine), Urban Ponten (interventional radiology), James Watts
(psychosurgery), and many others.
If you have questions or comments, I would be happy to be of service.
