TransHealth and Education Development Program
Program Coordinator
The TransHealth and Education Development Program is seeking to fill a
new position of Program Coordinator. This is the only trans health
program funded by a state department of public health. Through the
sponsoring of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the
Justice Resource Institute Health, the TransHealth and Education
Development Program is in the forefront in developing national public
health policy concerning trans health issues. Working with federal
programs (Health and Human Services, HRSA, SAMSHA, CSAT) the TransHealth
and Education Development Program is leading the way in breaking down
health barriers in both State and National public health arenas.
Primary program goal for this position is to address transgender at-risk
health conditions and behaviors in such areas as HIV infection, STD, and
baseline health care access. Through target outreach initiatives, health
care providers’ training and community building events, the Program
Coordinator will be responsible to utilize these venues for prevention
and education on health care disparities within the transgender
communities. Developing and implementing effective strategies to meet
all contract goals and requirements. Activities include but are not
limited to working with the HIV/AIDS Bureau to comply all contract
responsibilities, providing program technical assistance, on-site
trainings, assistance with agency capacity building, publishing
quarterly newsletter, maintain national and state-wide resources, and
develop community events for outreach and education purposes. Work
collaboratively with inter-agency programs to provide culturally
competent and accessible health services and resources to our clients.
Working with JRI Health outreach program, including CTSS to coordinate
HIV testing sites. Initiate and encourage HIV support groups for
transgender clients, participate in program development trainings,
continue network with the other programs that provide services to the
transgender population. Write and publish quarterly transgender health
care newsletter. Maintain TransHealth Resource Guide. Will track and
manage administrative duties. Supervise and oversee administrative
assistant in his/her responsibilities, including delegating work and
overseeing quality of performance on a daily basis. Coordinate office
schedules and time sheets. Track consumer and provider calls and
referrals. Maintain data base and continue to develop transgender
health care resource files. Update web site on an annual basis.
