Dear list-members,
I am aware that this kind of posting is not relevant to the nature of
this list, but since it is hard to find trans people of color in any
other places, please forgive me.
I am a graduate student in Anthropology at Hunter College in the
process of writing a master's thesis, and I am looking for men (who
were categorized as girls because of their anatomy at birth) to
interview in New York City area. It does not matter whether you are
taking testosterone, have done top or bottom surgery.
Although being a transman myself may not make any difference in this
project, I would like to clarify that I have no intention to look for
causes of our being what we are. I am mainly trying to find out many
kinds of problems we face everyday in terms of law, medical care, and
other important factors in our lives. In other words, I am very much
interested in learning how to cope with difficulties we experience
daily and over the lifetime. However, I am not only interested in the
dark side of our lives. Every time we survive a difficult situation,
it is worthy of recognition; therefore, I would also like to express
our strengths.
I would like to know as diverse people as possible in terms of age,
nationality, ethnicity, career, socio-economic status, educational
background, regions/countries one grew up in. (By the way, I am a
full-time student with no income, Japanese [considered non-resident
alien in the United States], grew up in a mid-size city in the
southwestern part of the mainland Japan.
If you could help me with this project, I would really appreciate it.
I hope to start interviewing from the end of February or the beginning
of March. (I'm such a procrastinator.) So, if you are interested,
please reply to me as soon as possible.
P.S. You will remain anonymous (unless you want to use your own
names).
My e-mail address is: [log in to unmask]
Phone number is: 973-350-1350.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nori Kuroda
