Karla:
I couldn't tell from your message if you had already contacted the
Grand Canyon, maybe the Public Affairs Office, or their Science
Program, about their Overflight studies? Park staff might be unable
to discuss the issues in any detail because of the on-going
litigation, but they might be able to direct you to publications.

My thesis topic relates to helicopter flightseeing tourism in Juneau,
Alaska. For 16 years helicopters have been pounding overhead in Juneau and a
topic of frequent discussion. Folks in Hawaii, the Grand Canyon and
elsewhere have been similarly impacted. As I started my literature searches
I figured there was someone out there studying any aspects of helicopter and
other flightseeing tourism but so far I haven't found them. The National
Park Service and US Forest Service have contracted some studies--I think I
have tabs on most of them.
I am not finding references for independent or academic research on
flightseeing.
Any suggestions?
Karla
