Please read the following message, my apologies to David for borrowing it,
but he put the information so well that I would only be repeating what he
said anyway. His message refers to the tourism discussion list but the same
issues apply to tourismanthropology. Hopefully the move goes fine and nobody
will notice anything.
Cheers
Neil

Subject: [Tourism Admin] Transition of Mailbase to JISCmail
Hello
This message is to let you all know about some forthcoming
changes which will affect the list.
As some of you will be aware, Mailbase was unsuccessful in
tendering to continue running the UK higher education mailing list
service.
A new service under the name JISCmail will replace Mailbase,
starting on 27th November. Existing Mailbase lists will be moved
to the new service over the weekend of 25/26th November. Any
mail sent over this weekend will be queued and redirected to the
JISCmail list.
The new service is based on the well-know LISTSERV software.
This will mean some changes in user commands to the list. These
are detailed at
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/docs/user-ref.htm
As soon as possible after the changeover you should
- Send any messages to the list to [log in to unmask]
- Send list commands to [log in to unmask]
- Check on the changed list commands (see above)
- Change any filters which you may have on incoming mails, so
that they are triggered by mail from jiscmail.ac.uk rather than
mailbase.ac.uk
- Change any bookmarks you may have to Mailbase pages to the
appropriate page at JISCMail.
Messages sent to Mailbase after the changeover will be forwarded
to the new service for the time being. It's obviously best if you use
the new arrangements as quickly as possible though.
More information about the transition can be found at
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/docs/transition.htm
Regards
David
