Migration of Mailbase List to JISCmail: 27th November 2000


Dear Tardigraders,

Members of the TARDIGRADA mailbase list may be aware that the
mailbase service is being transferred to JISCmail from 27th November
2000. The name Mailbase will be retained by the University of
Newcastle, the current Mailbase service provider, and the new service
will be known as JISCmail. The following information is provided to
help you understand how the change affects this list. You may wish to
keep this message for future reference.

1. The new service will be based upon the well known LISTSERV 
software. This will result in some changes to the user interface.
Details of the differences and the transition arrangements are
available on the JISCmail web site at

2. From 27th November 2000, email to our list should be sent to 
[log in to unmask] in place of [log in to unmask]

3. Similarly, user commands should be sent to [log in to unmask]
in place of [log in to unmask]

4. The JISCmail helpline can the reached at 
[log in to unmask]

6. JISCmail uses passwords differently to mailbase. Passwords are
linked to a users email address. List Members may very well never need
a password. As a list member it will only become necessary for you to
register a password if you wish to use the Web to post to any list or
view the archives of a closed list or change your list membership
options, such as mail or digest. 

In order to register a password go to the JISCmail Home Page 
www.jiscmail.ac.uk and follow the navigation provided. Don't worry if
you forget your password, it is very easy to register a new one.

7. Our new website address will be:
