As I recall, a major stumbling block is that the Mac does not support
memory mapping the way UNIX (and I guess Windows NT?) does. Mac OS
X, which is coming out this summer, will be a Mac interface grafted
onto a a standard UNIX core (Berkeley Standard Distribution) so it
should solve that problem. This should also make it much easier to
port from a UNIX version of SPM. We don't know yet if Matlab will
run on it but it's supposed to be backwards compatible with existing
Mac programs. I would be happy to collaborate on a porting effort
although I'm not a programmer at that kind of level.
