Dear Esa,
I had exactly the same problem using Render Display option
in SPM99 as you have just reported. For whatever reason,
matlab on my PC cannot load the render*.mat files in SPM99, including
those from FIL website.
But if you have a copy of SPM99b, and if you copy the render*.mat
files from its rend directory, they seem to work.
I did just that. So good luck!
