The best article I have come across on the anatomy of the human insular
cortex is by Mesulam and Mufson. I dont have all of the publication
details, but the article is in a collection of volumes called Cerebral
Cortex (not the journal!). The details that I can provide, (sketchy though
they are) are below:

Function.
