The batch interface accepts the following types:
type = {'defaults_edit','model','contrasts','headers',...
'means','realign','coreg','normalize','smooth'};
The spm_defaults_edit routine has a similar set of restricted types.
I think your problem is that you are selecting a type that doesn't exist.
Try setting the defaults area to 'realign' if you are setting realignment
parameters and 'coreg' if you are setting coregistration parameters
