| a short question: Does SPM have full support for the new analyze data
| format,
| or is it still neccessary to have an *.img-file for each scan?
|
| Because I have fMRI time series with more than 3000 scans, it would be
| great to have only one single *.img-file for the whole run.
SPM currently makes the assumption that each volume is in a different
file. However, it has been written so that it should be relatively
straightforward to introduce support for some other data formats. The
routines for setting up the data structure for reading images are spm_vol.m
and spm_get_space.m. For writing different formats, the functions are
spm_create_image.m and spm_write_plane.m. There may be one or two other
parts in the code that assume that there are .img, .hdr and possibly .mat
files though (particularly for deleting temporary images).
The biggest problem for multi-volume files would probably involve actually
selecting the volumes you wish to use. This would require extensive
modification to spm_get.m. Also, as the routines currently pass a single
filename to the image reading and writing routines, it would be necessary
to make extensive changes so that additional arguments were passed.
